Re: Wheelie Deelies 2

I've been thinking that the floor jack under the car is not necessarily a
good idea. We're talking about having the entire weight of the car on one
pivot point - which point is 99% likely to be slippery from oil leakage
(this is an English car mind you). Then I'm going try to put lateral force
on this pivot point? I'm just not getting good vibes.

Besides, if I have the wheelie deelies, it will make my SV to S3 Alpine
cross member/engine/transmission swap that much easier. I'll put a wheelie
deelie under each front tire and under the transmission, with some sort of
sturdy block so that the transmission will rest right on it. I'll put two
floor jacks under the frame, undo the 4 crossmember bolts, undo the 8
transmission mount bolts, and lift the front of the body up with the jacks,
slide the whole kit and kabbudle, all still assembled, forward and reverse
the process to fit to the S3. Just like the Sunbeam factory did it.
Seems pretty slick to me. Won't even have to rent an engine hoist.
Probably can even do it myself.

Jay
