I'm sticking my neck out here, but I think a lot a misery and pain can
be avoided if we support and/or consult with the businesses that
specialize in Sunbeam parts and repair/restoration. Those businesses
include Tiger Auto, Classic Sunbeam, Sunbeam Specialties, Tiger Tom,
Smitty's, and others. These people are the experts that have the
knowledge to tell us which path to take to repair our cars correctly. I
know they have:
*the correct parts (new and used),
*know how to restore the sheet metal correctly,
*know the paint technology,
*know the cars originality (what was original and not),
and the list goes on . Before you make a commitment to take your
business somewhere else, please call one the Sunbeam restorers or parts
suppliers and consult with them about what you are about to spend money
on. I have known Doug Jennings for about 27 years and he has
consistently given me very good service at a VERY reasonable price. I
have made some costly mistakes (years ago) by thinking that I know more
about it than Doug, but I got screwed too. When talking my screwed
situation over with Doug, he was nice enough to help me correct the
situation (I think he has seen it happen to us so many times). To
summarize, support these guys first, before going to a generic repair
shop that will love to take your money.
