Sunbeams do this. The easiest way to deal with it is, as someone else
pointed out, to roll the car out onto the street. With the engine off put
it in first, Depress the clutch pedal and start the engine. When the car is
rolling, press hard on the brake. Do the brake pressure thing several times
if necessary. The clutch usually breaks free on the first try.
Your problem is not the hydraulics, and dropping the car from a jack with
the wheels turning is dangerous and probably does no more than stepping on
the brake.
The first time I encountered this problem I didn't know what was wrong, so
we started to disconnect the transmission to get at the clutch. When the
second bolt on the bell housing was loosened the clutch popped free.
