I don't think the stop leak would work with cork. You have to make the
assumption
that the chemist probably were thinking to swell rubber an not a material
like cork.
I believe few modern cars use cork in the internals.
Actually, the stop leak for power steering racks can be impressive.
Certain TRW racks are notorious for leakage then failure. The life can be
extended significantly assuming stop leak is used early before the leak is
massive and the rack boots are intact.
Of course it isn't a permanent fix...now can somebody please explain how a
rebuilder of racks can warrant the rebuilt rack for life (and it does last)
and the OEM manufacturer can't make a rack that will last.
