Paul,
You don't need special tools to cut laminated glass, only a normal glass
cutter, but.... you need cut at both sides in the same place, break the two
sides of glass and cut the middle plastic with a razor blade.
Certanly you cant' do that with tempered glass, that is the reason I used a
windshield, the most are laminated and rear windows the most are tempered.
Of course is more weight in the top, but stay with (not very easy) mobility
for one person.
I put the rear quarters and door windows glasses in the same tint (very very
ligth green) and the SV looks terrific like very expensive cars.
