I've been down this road before - and the scenery is getting tedious...
My alpine had been sitting for a number of years and the original brake
booster was shot. I bought a replacement booster from Sunbeam Specialties in
October of '97. This is the "small servo unit, Lockheed" item. Due to the MN
weather, I put off installing it until the spring of '98. I put about 1,000
miles on the car last summer, and stored the car last winter. I have not
taken the car out this year until last weekend.
When I went to start up the car, the brake pedal seemed awfully soft. I
checked the brake fluid and sure enough, the reservoir was nearly empty. No
brake fluid on the garage floor. These symptoms occurred when the seals from
my original booster went bad.
Is there something that I should have done to the brake system prior to
storing the car last winter?
Could anything have prevented this?
Are rebuild kits available for the small Lockheed servo unit?
Am I jumping the gun here in assuming that it is the servo?
Thanks for any help.
