Jay,
Okay...I lookes at some of the cars I have sitting around and here's
what I think to be correct for mounting the hammer. Anyone feel free to
correct me if I'm wrong.
On the left hand side of the spare tire is where the tool kit roll
belongs. There is a strap mounted with two screws. Just to the upper
left you will se a hole for a clamp for mounting the hammer. (just one)
This clamp will be of the same type as the early cars used, NO plastic
coating. This appears on both a Series 3 ST and a Series 4 GT that I
have right now and looks like the logical place for mounting the hammer.
To the right of the spare tire is where the jack handle mounts and above
the tire is where the jack and the starting crank go. The cars that I
have with whire wheels have this extra hole next to the tool kit and the
cars with the steel wheels don't. This holds true on the Series 1's and
2's that have wires or steel wheels. If they had wires, then the hammer
got mounted. The S1's and 2's have two clamps holding the hammer, but
from experience, it is a pain in the butt getting it in both of them. I
think they omitted one clamp for obvious reasons.
This is my theory and I belive it makes sense, but I don't have a good
virgin car to reference from and I can't find any good pictures showing
the trunk. Anyone agree...or disagree???
