On soapbox: I honestly do not understand the push by some people to keep
all their buying habits, etc., private. I am a consumer and I purchase
consumer goods. The more consumer goods there are that I like, the better
I am. So, I'm generally glad when my buying habits are used as a vote to
make sure what I like stays around. Further, I like ads about things I am
interested in. So, if my buying habits are also used for so I can receive
more ads about what I like, then great. I mean, what do I need ads for
about clothes, or growing flowers, or making hats? But, since I generally
always have an itch for new skiis or a new bike, or something car related,
I appreciate ads about those things - even if its only to keep an eye on
what's out there so I know about it when the time comes to buy. So, if
someone knows that the Alpine list is a bunch of car nuts who might buy
Alpine parts, PERFECT! Sure, it's capitalizing on knowledge about the
audience. But, that's what capitalism is all about - for both the buyer
and the seller. And, I'm proud to be a capitalist pig.
On the other hand, I am completely addicted to eBay, and I check it often.
The less of you folks who find out about the items, the less likely I'll
have competition on bidding, and might get the item for less than my max.
Off soapbox.
