Experts-Just when everything is running well and all is good with
British Cars, my Alpine S2 has running problems. I installed a Pertronix
in July and except for a few minor run-in problems appears to be fine. I
tell you this to let all know what is different since it was running
well. On the way to the KC All-British Labor Weekend I had to fill the
tank and it started to stop in the middle of cruising. It appeared to do
it when I came off the gas pedal then accelerated again to find the
engine speed was dropping to a point where the car stalled. After a few
starter turns it would run again. No warning. My thought is debris in
the gas tank. The car has been restored in the 70's but I did nothing to
the gas tank. Fuel pump is 2 years old and I have cleaned the filter
screen plus the Purolator filter screen. What does the group think? Does
this sound like garbage floating around in the tank and possibly
clogging the fuel line. I let the tank get to 2 gallons today then
refilled it thinking it was bad gas but it still is happening. Any
advice on where to look would help. I do not think it is the ignition or
it would not start up again with some tinkering. Thanks Brent Kasl
