Brent:

I don't know about preferences, but in re-installing the Series I (long
filler neck ), it is a good idea to leave all bolts (or at least the ones
attaching the tank to the spacer) loose until you have installed the
through-the-body and through-the-fender grommets. It can be difficult if
you don't!
