Stupid Gas Tricks

Just a warning and a suggestion why seldom used cars run so poorly: OLD GAS
IS BAD, VERY BAD. I drained the few gallons out of my Alpine that has been
sitting in there for just over a year. Now, I've been told that gas this
old has deteriorated. I just didn't realize how badly. Trying to be
environmentally conscious, I put it in my 911. I figured is was just a few
gallons, and so my car wouldn't run in top form for a week. Top form? How
about not run at all? I knew it wouldn't be great, but I didn't expect
bad.

I only had a couple of gallons in the 911 tank as it was. So, it was
trying to run on lots of this junk. I was able to stumble over to the gas
station and fill it up with good gas. It still is running poorly. But, at
least I don't have to sit at a green light trying to rev it up to 3000 so I
can ease off on the clutch a little to get forward motion. I didn't have
the option of draining it out of the car. I had to get to work. Rest
assured I'll be running this to practically empty before putting in more
gas.

Then I might run some Technolon for a few tanks in a row.

Jay

P.S. The old SV is out of the garage and the 911 is back in. And I
thought this morning how happy the 911 must be to be back inside and
freshly washed - only to find out I've ripped out its guts.
