When I rebuilt my SV Alpine 6 years ago, I put in a solid state fuel pump.
I mounted it on the frame just below the passenger seat. I cut the hard
plastic fuel line, and used it to get to the pump. But, from the pump
forward I used gas line I purchased at a local auto supply shop. Now that
I am swapping all this stuff over to my new S3, I've had reason to touch
and see everything. That fuel line, where it runs under the car, has
become HARD. I don't know if it's become dangerous and subject to crack or
split. But, it has definitely changed for the worse. Right now I am
looking to see if I can get barrel nuts, etc. to use the original line the
whole way - which never gave me any problems in the first place.
