Brent,
I have a 4inch-wide "shelf" about half way up the wall of my garage. It
is covered with carpet to make it 'non-slip' and protect the hardtop.
The back edge of the hardtop sits on this shelf, with the hardtop
pointing in toward the middle of the garage. Pivoting from the roof of
the garage is an "S" shaped 1/2inch metal bar, with a big chunk of
timber on it which is shaped to fit the front edge of the hardtop where
it would rest on the winscreen.

To stow the hardtop I place the back edge on the shelf, lift the front
edge as high as I can, then swing the bar/wood device under the front
edge and lower the top onto it. A piece of rope around the two front
catches and the wood support makes sure it *cannot* come adrift.

I tried pulleys etc, but I could get the top to stow high enough in my 8
foot-high garage to be out of harms way.

Cheers,
Paul.
