On my SV, the 'far' oil cooler hose runs over the front of the engine, with
a bracket that attaches to the valve cover. I've seen the Factory Bulletin
that this was also to be retrofitted to earlier cars. They said it was to
avoid some sort of problem with the flow of oil. Does anyone have any
ideas if this really did anything? Of off the top of my head, I guess
putting the oil up high allowed it to flow down and back into the engine.
But, on the other hand, the 'close' hose does rise up before going down to
the filter block. So, the oil would stop at that hump. I presume the oil
pressure out of the filter block is strong enough to keep the oil flowing
while running. Maybe not. Any ideas? It would certainly LOOK better not
to hang on top that way.
