I think it has been mentioned but if you are interested in SUNI stuff the
Dec/Jan issue of British Car is a must buy.
A nice [but small] photo of the concours site is on page 5 with a brief
description of SUNI itself. The actual article by John Webber of Orlando FL
is written in a jovial style, almost as interesting as Colin Cobb's stories.
Ed Esslinger of Ozark, AL gets some ink. Ed is on this list and traveled
most of the way with John and others in his Tiger. [BTW Ed, did you give out
those SUNI T-shirts at your SOS/AGM?]
One photo [top right page 43] could show, but probably does not, my white
Alpine among some Tigers at the highway sign for Yellowstone National Park
entrance. The day of the ralley John Wilde (of England) and my wife and I
pulled up alongside several Tigers at this site. They were just about done
with their photo opportunity and when they left we shot several photos of our
Alpines by this sign. Maybe by chance my car happened to get into the
published photo. I'd like to think so.
The article mentions that some Tiger owners turned back from Yellowstone
because the road was blocked by a herd of buffalo. This is true for John, I
and Gary Strom (I think) emerged together from the drive off area where all
the overheated Tigers and overheated drivers were trying to cool down.
Still the author did top us for my altitude maximum was 8800 foot Dunraven
Pass in Yellowstone and these guys on their way back went via 11000 Beartooth
Pass northeast of Yellowstone. Also his 5,193 total miles topped my 2,100
miles by a long shot.
The magazine also has other interesting reading. A while back did someone
ask about wheel dollies for your garage? There is even an ad and short
article about these (4 for $160).
