        Rob:

Just for the record, (and those of us who sweated through the two
hours + of
traffic) the road was really blocked by a herd of tourae, all of
whom were
trying to get a picture of ONE buffalo standing near the road and
scratching
him/her self on a tree. About a mile further on, there was a whole
herd, but
interest appeared to be worn off by then.

        Ron,

The herd of tourists came later. As one of the first Sunbeams in
the park that morning, I can attest that the first herd on the road was
Buffalo. After sitting through only a mile of backup, I was very close to
making it past the herd when my Tiger overheated and I had to retreat.

Several hours later after renting a modern car in West Yellowstone
and sitting through an even longer line of tourists all of the Buffalo were
grazing off the road, with the one bull near the road, as you described.
