Is this a good idea or should I just use a good enamel paint? If I go ahead
and get them stripped and painted, do I need to make sure the inside stays
bare metal, or is it OK to do the whole thing? Any suggestions or comments?

Patrick,

I had 6 wheels powdercoated for $150 in 1998. They did both sides, it sure
makes it easier to clean off the brake dust on the inside. I had not
orginally considered this but I guess it is not all that unusual. My car is
white and I was surprized how many shades of white there are. If you have to
have your color mixed it will cost a lot more than the standard colors. I
suggest you go to a wheel shop and get your steel rims checked for balance
and fixed if necessary before painting or powdercoating.
