List,
I just picked up a series 5. This car is absolutly rust free. It still has
paint under the carpet and trunk mat. The inteirior only needs door panels.
It has a new soft top and windshield. The paint is nice other than a couple
of deep scratches. (forest green) No hard top, visors or visor brackets
becuse he was talked out of them by a Tiger owner!! The previous owner
bought the car from the original owner in April 99. He drove the car as a
daily driver until July when he ran the radiator out of water and seized the
engine up. He said he never tried to start it again. I don't know.
The engine is not seized. I put a new starter in it and it cranks over.
Then I found the firing order was messed up as wires had been moved.

Can anyone tell me about what position the distributor should be in to try
and get it started. He had it cranked way to the right and I moved it back
so the hand adjustment for retarding and advancing is perpendicular to the
block. Is this correct? It has electronic ignition so I can't really tell
if the points are opening when #1 is TDC.
