Dear All

Thanks again for all of the great suggestions regarding my clutch problems.
The majority of opinions centred on the following :-

1. Clutch hydraulics had failed - not the case - I crawled underneath whilst
my wife pressed the clutch pedal and there was at 0.25" travel on first press
- presumably enough to lift clutch plate from flywheel. So I moved onto
scenario 2....

2. Glued clutch plate - apparently this was the case. All of the advice I got
gave great suggestions about dabbing either clutch or brake once car was
moving at speed in forward direction. However, I couldn't get the car started
in a forward direction because the starter couldn't cope with moving the
weight of the car i.e. clutch was definitely engaged and I was trying to
start the car in gear. Eventually I used a hybrid of recommended solutions
and I jacked up the back of the car , put it very solidly on axle stands and
then started the car in gear - starter at this stage could handle turning
over the running gear without contact with terra firma and the clutch
disengaged almost immediately.

Thanks everyone.

Best regards
Clive
