I previously wrote that recalibrating the needle on a speedo does not
affect the odometer or trip meter. I have a clarification. That is still
true, especially when the needle is off because of a change in tires or
rear end. However, the needle can be off because the magnetism has become
weaker. That would have no affect upon the odometer, and fixing the needle
only would take care of the problem. This of course is under the
assumption that the factory had it right for the odometer in the first
place!
