I think it was actually a rubber o-ring at one time and not sealant. Can anyone confirm this? - Ian

Now that I have all my gauges out and apart to paint
the needles and clean them up.......

I assume that the dried up black crud around the bezel
and glass was some sort of sealant and NOT 30+ years
of dirt. What do I use to replace the sealant and
does it go between the glass and bezel?
