Well, I've been shown my easy fuse trick is not necessarily going to work -
as a few have pointed out, the extra load on one fuse will pop the fuse
without a short, and a big enough fuse to allow the load through will never
pop before the wires go.
One person did believe that if only the light switch was swapped over to
the other side, it would be fine. I'm going to do that - mostly because
the only short I've ever had that melted any wires was in that circuit.
When I finally get a round tuit, I am going to add some in-line fuses as
suggested without cutting any of the original wires - using male
end/fuse/female end a switch or other location.
