engine rebuild

I blew a head gasket a while back and just pulled my motor to install my
overdrive unit and replace the head gasket. When I pulled the head, I
found I had two not so good looking valves. I also found that a bunch of
my water jackets were full of crud, even though I had recently flushed the
system. My lifters are also in need of replacement, so why not regrind the
cam while I at it. To make a long story short, I am rebuilding the motor.

I don't want a racer. The overdrive I am installing is a Volvo unit with a
25% reduction while using the non overdrive rear end. I figure I will
cruise the interstate at 70 mph turning a little over 3,000 rpm. I
therefore want most of my power and torque to be in this range. I have
found a set of Ramon's rod bolts and I will cross drill the crankshaft
journals for better oiling to try and protect the bottom end. I will
balance the motor, grind the casting flash out of the intake manifold and
polish the exhaust ports in the head. The motor is currently 20 thousands
over, and I think it'll need to be bored out to 30 thousand over because
the #1 cylinder has some water damage in it. The other cylinders still
have the honing marks, so if a little light honing cleans up #1 and I get
lucky, I'll stick with 20 thousand over. I figure I will have to deck the
head. It looks like this has been done before, but I still have room on
the indicators for another milling or two. I know that a milled head will
raise the compression a little and I would like to continue to run watered
down gas (87 octane), so I don't want to go flat pistons, etc.

Other than the few things I mentioned above, what else should I do to build
up a long lasting motor with good midrange power? I would like
recommendations on a cam grind if anyone has any. Also, do the valve seats
or guides need to be replaced to handle unleaded gas?

Does anyone have an oil pump, lifters, or 30 thousand over pistons they
don't need? I won't know what journal bearings I will need until we mic
the crank, but does anyone have oversized crank bearings? Camshaft
bearings?
