I believe that all Series III's (OD and non-OD) had 3.89 rear ends. If it was good enough for the factory to use, it should work well on your Series II. Tom

Brent,
     All O/D cars came originally with 4.22 rear ends. All non- overdrive
series 2 came with 3.89 rear ends. All series 5 non-od came with 3.89 EXCEPT
the first 8-9 thousand cars that came with 4.22s. The story I am told is
that they had an overrun of 4.22s and figured Americans would not know the
difference. To be sure, you need to check the serial number of your car and
find out the cutoff point. Secondly, you need to check the rear itself since
it may have been changed along the way. Lou
