The way I do it is to jack up one rear wheel, and make a mark on this and
the driveshaft. Every rotation of the wheel should produce half the diff
ratio rotations of the driveshaft, eg for a 4.22 diff, turning the wheel
once should rotate the driveshaft 2.1 times. It's easy enough to tell cause
with the 4.2 diff the drive shaft goes just over 2 rotations, and with the
3.89, the drifeshaft doesn't quite complete the second. To be more accurate
you can turn the wheel 10 times, and for the 4.22 the driveshaft should
rotate 21 times, while only 19.5 times for the 3.89
