wires

In my engine bay on the passenger side firewall, there is a brown and a
white wire hanging off the wire harness that runs along the top of the
firewall. Does anyone know what these wires go to? I am trying to wire up
an overdrive and I wonder if these wires might go to the solenoid that is
suppose to mount on the firewall in that general vicinity.
