Your real problem is that you stop to put the top up when it rains. That's
when the water gets in.

You need to keep driving with the top down when it rains; that way the water
never gets in to the car. It just flies over the passenger compartment and
lands on the car behind you. Just remember, NEVER STOP WHEN IT RAINS!
