Yes you can put a converter on any car, but if you expect it to work, and
last
it is imperative that your fuel system be well under control.

If you run too rich a mixture, the catalist will foul,plug up and stop
working along
with your engine.
If you run too lean a mixture, the catalist wont fire off and your emmisions
doesnt take advantage of the cat.

You have to be right in the groove, or with gasoline between 14/1 and 15/1
air fuel
ratio for the cat to stay happy.

If you are trully serious about the environment, have you considered fuel
injection?
It has been said that carburretors truly suck.
