I saw the Avengers episode to the end, and took a closer look at the Alpine
- or Alpines. The car that they show on the road driving is clearly a
Series V. The knock offs are the octogon ones. The mirrors are the
standard Talbot style mounted towards the rear end of the front tires. The
front driving/fog lights are the standard ones, mounted directly to the car
without a badge bar. That being said, I believe the car they used for the
close ups was a SIV (or S3). Between their shoulders you can make out the
pull handle on the rear metal cover for the top! Another inconsistency is
that the windshield wipers are flat down on the road shots, but up a few
inches on the face shots.
I didn't get the digest on Saturday. Anyone else not get it?
Finally, I think it was "Losoccor" who was having problems with the
non-parallel cross over tube. I measured the mounting spots on one I had
laying in the garage. On the non-steering box side, on the plate with the
swiveling part, there is one hole behind the swivel, one hole just in
front, and two holes farther in front. The one to the rear is 1.25" back
from the center of the shaft. The one just in front is 1" forward. The
top one farther in front is 4" forward. On the two arms that swivel on
this spot, the arm going back is 6.5" from swivel to center of the hole for
the cross over tube and the front one is 5.25". Hope that helps.
