Well, I seem to have struck a nerve with some of you. I suspect that the
ones who becried foul are those who want to keep the Alpines in a pristine
and restored condition. Well, I have a few questions, rhetorical I might
add about that...
1) Do any of you voice your restoration opinion when leathe seats aor
upholstery is added?
2) What about non original tire sizes?
3) What about non original wheels?
4) How about non original paint color?
5) Non original gages?
6) Swaping in an OD when the car did not come with one?
7) Changing rear gears to something different?
8) Non original mirrors?
9) License plate locations different from stock?
10) Differrent radios or sound systems?
11) Changing to alternators?
12) and so on.

I suspect that these mods are approved by you originality types, but what
is the difference? Only in degree, not in kind. I do admire all those who
want to keep their cars in an original condition, but I also admire those
who want to personalize their vehicles to meet whatever demand they have.
What frosts my butt is those on both sides of the coin who believe their
view is the only one that counts and that they have an obligation to insure
that we all follow their sentiment. I for one do not need to hear their
opinions, rather I would like to hear that we all take pride in the cars,
no matter who does what to them. My personal view is that the only cars
truly worth a restoration effort are those that are historically
significant. And there are not many of those in the Alpine ranks.

End of rant, back to the normal programming.
