There were TWO cars used for the series, a Tiger, and an Alpine. The Alpine
was used since a howitzer would not fit under the hood of a tiger. The
Alpine had all the mods. It had rotating Lic plate, ramming bumperettes,
Howitzer, smoke screen capable, and ejection seats.
After the series was over, Don Adams bought the Tiger from the studio
and he kept it till a few years back. He used it in the chief auto parts
advertisements, then grew tired of it. He gave it to his daughter who drove
it as transportation, then sold it recently to a guy in Phoenix AZ were it
is being restored to its former glory.
I know not where the Alpine ended up.
If you watch the episodes, he pulls up in front of CONTROL in a Tiger.
He drives it around in some episodes. In the one episode that develops the
car, it is clearly an alpine. There is some fun with the ejection seats in
an alley. I watched the episode 2 years prior to my first Sunbeam purchase,
which was 1980, so I wasn't paying to close attention.
There is a picture of this alpine in "Tiger, an exceptional Motorcar".
It is black and white but shows good detail.
There was also an AMT model of the get smart car that is auctioned on
ebay every few months. It generally goes for $125-$300-infinity. And thats
all I got to say about that. Lou
