Easy as pie. Remove the head and measure the stroke, a 1725 is a little
longer than a 1600. Or you can remove the oilpan and count the main
bearings. 11725 has 5, and a 1600 has 3. The last way would be to look at
the non carbuerated side of the block, and if the dipstick goes into the oil
pan, then it is early. If it goes into THE BLOCK, right by the oil filter,
on the same pad in fact, then it is a 1725. I personally find the last of
the three methods to be the easiest. Lou
