Hi Kurt:
When we bought our S4 it had sat for awhile and it too had next to no
brakes. As I understand it, if they set for more than a few months the
rear brake cylinders on alpines begin to leak and have to be
rebuilt--new seals. That's what it was on our car and once the rears
had been rebuilt it ran okay--till the front calipers locked up--but
that's another story.
