I have sold my Sunbeam Alpine to a guy in Texas who wishes to collect it

Alpine be OK on the tow dolly? Your feedback will be greatly
appreciated.

Steve, To tow the 4 speed Alpine a long distance you need to
disconnect the drive shaft. My understanding is that the gears
responsible for slinging oil around the tranny and keeping things
lubricated do not turn with the rear shaft but rather with the input
shaft. Unless the engine is running , you don't get proper lubrication.
You can pull the four bolts holding the shaft to the differential
and then tie the shaft up and out of the way. This way you won't lose
tranny oil and you don't have to stow the drive shaft in the trunk or
elsewhere . I did this for the trip to SUNI. Just make sure it can't
slide rearward and pull itself free of the tailshaft housing.
One last thing. The front of the car will be in the path of flying
stones etc. kicked up by the tow vehicle. Mine is a mess. I wish I would
have known that SS lists nose covers in their catalogue.
