I'm pretty sure the one's with return springs are certainly used on
series I and maybe series II (they have the shorter cylinders too and
adjustable pushrod). The later series' had the longer slave cylinder
(series 5 has a larger hydraulic line too) and a fixed length pushrod.
They all have the same diameter bore, 1 inch, so when rebuilding the
slaves, one can use any 1" brake cylinder rebuilding kit (I use a kit
for a Ford wheel cylinder). I have some "rebuilt" NOS early slaves
(shorter) available ($100 each).
