I don't know if you've had much luck on that mirror. I have found that if
I give enough downward pressure, the nut moves far enough from the metal
that I can turn it with my hands. When I do need a wrench, I have been
able to get a small open end wrench in there up against the door skin, just
enough to grab the nut and give a little twist until it is free enough to
get it with my hands.
Come on, don't all English car home mechanics have two elbows on each arm,
and 7 fingers on each hand, the two extra being a thumb and index finger to
hold those dang nut while the other fingers turn it.
