brakes

I've posted a picture of a wheel cylinder off the rear brakes of my Series
III Alpine at http://www.petrie.hotkey.net.au/~rmaddock/cylinder.jpg

I'd really appreciate it if someone was able to tell me:

a) is this what a Series III is meant to have?
b) if not, what the hell is it?

I ask because it doesn't fit the description of an Alpine wheel cylinder as
described in the factory workshop manual. It does however sound suspiciously
like a Rapier one, which leads me to think my Alpine might have a Rapier
backend in it.
