Vintage Motorsports Council

January, 1996

Since the first organizing meeting held in Denver in 1987, the Council has incorporated in the State of Georgia, elected officers, collected dues, and presently is composed of 22 member clubs, including 5 associate members. Membership is pending for 2 clubs. Following is a summary of the Council's accomplishments.

The purpose of the Vintage Motorsports Council:

The purpose of the Vintage Motorsports Council is to provide a coordinating body for Vintage Motorsports.It is the intent of the Vintage Motorsports Council to provide its members with a framework for the promotion of uniform rules and regulations to enhance the continued growth and health of Vintage Motorsports.

Membership in the Council is open to responsible Vintage Motorsports groups throughout North America. The Vintage Motorsports Council is an advisory and coordinating body which will establish recommended rules and regulations for the benefit of its member organizations.

The mission statement:

The primary objective of the sport of Vintage and Historic automobile racing is to promote the preservation of these cars in a racing format which emphasizes driver safety and etiquette.

The sport is intended to provide a format for friendly wheel-to-wheel competition with vehicles faithfully prepared to their era.

All racing is dangerous and only the proper attitude of the driver and the careful preparation of the cars will diminish the danger and will enhance our appreciation of this sport.
