On May 20, 1998 I received a email from Stephen Wilcox who happened to be co-owner of S&S Preparations in the UK. A well-known TR7/8 supplier. Here’s the message in full.

I read with interest the letter on your web page by Mr. Kris Milik regarding our Rear Disc Conversion,I would like to clarify the following points:-

1.13 inch wheels would not clear the discs The standard factory 13 inch alloys and most after market alloys clear without a problem.Only 13 inch steel wheels require a small 6mm spacer.

2.When Mr Milik arrived to collect the axle it was not ready. True, but Mr. Milik arrived at our premises on a friday to collect the axle, but had not replied to our fax sent a week earlier asking him to confirm his arrival on that day. Even with this taken into account we still delivered the axle to Mr. Milik to his home in Belgium at no cost to himself.

3. The axle was not new/recon. Again this is true but the 595 pounds is not for a new/recon axle the cost is purely for the REAR DISC CONVERSION to a customer supplied,or if that is
not possible(ie for overseas customers) we will supply a good used axle for the conversion to be carried out on.If a customer wants a NEW/RECON axle then this can be supplied at extra cost. Also the axle ratio can be changed at extra cost. This is always expalined and all the options offered to customers when they make an enquiry about this conversion.

Finally, well done on the new wedge page, and could you please change our details in the suppliers list to:- Restoration,Mechanical and Body Repairs,Full Engine Machine Shop For all Triumphs,Trimming,TR7/8 parts,Worldwide Mail Order TR7/8 and of course TR7 V8 Conversions.

It might be of interest to everybody, that we now have the only in house Engine Machine Shop in the Triumph World Offering,UNLEADED conversions, rebuilds, rebores, crank grinding, polishing & porting etc.

Regards
