Just look up "Engines-Diesel" in your Yellow Pages phone book and call one
of them (Caterpillar, Detroit, Cummins, Deutz, etc.) up and ask about
engine oil analysis services in your area.  Anything bigger than a "two
McDonalds" town probably has one, they are not at all uncommon.  There's at
least one outfit that does it by mail...you buy a sampling kit which
includes an approved mailing package and they get back to you with analysis
results.

Here in Canada a big auto parts chain (CTC) also offer this service, or
used to.

So yes, it's a good idea, and yes it's already been thought of and I'd
guess the market is pretty well covered.
