Yesterday I did a trial bolt-up of my Camaro box with the OEM Buick clutch
housing. There was a bind, not because the tip of input shaft bottomed in
crank, but rather the spline of the input shaft touched the projection from
the back of the crank. I planned on cutting off about half of that 3/4 inch
long projection anyway to give better access to the flywheel securing bolts.
My aluminum flywheel is just 3/8 inch thick there so the long projection is
not needed. There's a good 1/8 inch clearance from the tip of the shaft to
the bottom of the crank hole.
I'm almost done with making pulleys for a serpentine belt. Dayco sent me
specs for pulleys; had a form tool made up, which worked well. It cuts just
one groove at a time and it's up to me to space them .140 inch apart.
Spring is rapidly approaching in the NW US and I'm feeling the pressure to
get my TVR back out on the PIR racetrack with the bimmer club
