The old fashioned roadster horns can be carefully taken apart
by all the nuts and bolts around the edge. Inside is a sort
of contact set that makes the horn blow, sort of an electromagnet that
vibrates a tin plate. The contacts are probably crapped up, or the
tin plate is corroded, both can be cleaned and the horn will work.
Before you go to this trouble, there is a screw on the outside to
adjust tone of the horn. Play with this and horn might work also.
Some "mechanical agitation" (whack it with a soft hammer)
may also be helpful. If horn is too far gone, time for JC Whitney,
or the Junkyard, and get some other ones.
Yea, I sent this to the entire list, because I fixed my horns
this way, and I think its pretty cool to have a car old enough
where the horns can be taken apart.
