That guy seems to have a hair trigger and a WAY too defensive personality. I 
know the type all too well - just like my ex. 
My suggestion:

Leave him the heck alone, he's looking for trouble, why give him what he 
wants? 

We folks on the list know each other well enough to know that no terrible 
harm/mud-slinging was meant by the initial comment.
