It's not "Gold" cad. It is a yellow chromate conversion which is used to
protect the plating and can be used with either cadmium or zinc (BTW,
because of pollution laws cadmium, which is a heavy metal, is rarely used
for plating anymore). It also comes in several other colors such as olive
which can be adjusted by length of immersion to go from light green to
almost black. The olive color is frequently found on American cars.
FWIW, forget Eastwood and just get the parts replated probably almost the
same cost but it really is plated.
