Hi Bob,

Buying one is always a better idea! But, being roadster owners we never
take the easy way out. Making one is not too difficult, but it does take a
little time. Here are the steps I took.

Buy your cable from a bicycle shop. Ask for the highest quality sheathing, with
thickest diameter wire core. The first time I inquired, the bike shop owner told
me of several grades of quality. I asked for the best, and he said it was very
expensive. Yeah, something like $10. Not a lot of money for roadster owners! I
told him I wanted it for a car, and right away he says "oh, for SU carbs?". He
got a lot of requests from MG owners. Also ask for the metal sleeves that
protect the ends of the cables. As long as you're there, get enough to build two
sets, it doesn't cost that much, around $20 tops.

I can't remember the details of taking apart the choke cable control, but it
isn't difficult. Just take notes when you disassemble it. I don't know if they
are all like the 67.5, but can't imagine them being too different. Basically you
double up the length from the console to the carbs, with some slack. Remove some
cable sheathing from the middle of the doubled-up cable so you expose a loop of
wire. (Hint - the wire slides out of the sheathing and you can slide it back in
the cut pieces.) There's a plunger with a wire retainer clip - put the loop of
wire around the plunger, and insert the retainer clip thru the loop and
re-insert the plunger into the choke cable control. The sheathing can be
adjusted into place. Draw the pair of cables thru the firewall, and adjust the
lengths to fit the carbs (remember to use the metal sleeves at the cable ends).

Hope this helps!

Could someone send me the location on the site
where someone described how to rebuild the choke cable.
I want to read it and then decide if buying a new one
is a better idea.
TIA
