Concerning Shasta, it was asked:

The Modesto group is a better authority than I, so take what I say as
'third hand rumor' :-)
The Roadster get-together is pretty informal and there aren't a lot of
organized events like the all-Datsun party up the hill. However, there's
still expenses! The meals are a large chunk of their expenses, as they
have a company come out and do all the food prep. However, food is
only part of it. They need to rent the community center for the awards
banquet (so there's your 'indoors' cost). They purchase and distribute
dash plaques for the entrants, plus information packets, plus mailing
the info out.. All inexpensive 'office' expenses, but it all adds up! It's
run totally non-profit, if there's extra left over, they roll it into some
little bonus for the next year.
