Thanks to all who helped with suggestions and parts for the broken cam, bad
cam towers on the 2000 I've had for the last 6 weeks. The car ran tonight for
the first time in 10 years on its own power. Still some funny sounds coming
from the head, but no knocking. I think the chain is still too loose because
the machinist had to align the cam towers using some but not all of the shims.
I did jam the tensioner as some suggested also. Sounds crazy, but it will
have to do until the owner can afford a better head(thicker) with the
correct/matched cam towers.
Now back to my stroker project that has been neglected, and the timing belt on
the SER, brakes on the Mazda truck........etc.
By the way, anyone have a drive shaft for a 5speed tranny.? Just happen to
have an extra going in the stroker.
