Always interested in your progress pics. Looks like Hiro is going to
be one impressive roadster! I had an interesting (not pleasant)
exchange with a restorer in the San Antonio area. I found this place
on the web

question: "Do you know of a front end shop in the San Antonio area that
can rebush the king pins on an old Datsun truck" The terse reply: "No
idea" So i asked: Do you do your front end work in-house then? The
reply in all-caps" "NO" this leaves us in a logical connundrum, do
they not deal with kingpin front-end vehicles?
Anyway, the exchange with Jeff@ Jeff Lilly's "Resto Ranch" made me
appreciate our vendors. You might find the jefflilly.com site
interesting on a couple of counts. On the "how much?" FAQ here's a
quote:
1. Because of the obstacles involved in the restoration or custom
building of a project, cost estimation is impossible to do. On a
complete restoration / custom built project our lowest price to date on
a finished project was $ 45,000. It is best not to be overly optimistic
about the condition of your project and parts availablity as those two
factors will dictate the cost to build your vehicle.
One project shown on the site is a 1969 Karmann Ghia A $45 grand
Karmann Ghia? Well, I guess he has to pay for those manicured lawns and
white ranch fences ;-) I know you mentioned a that your resto is
costing you a chunk of change, but from what i can see Ross is giving
you incredible value and loving care on your project.
