motor mounts

What would the symptoms of bad motor / transmission mounts be?

 

My '68 2L is running like a top, but I'm getting some generalized vibration
in 1st and 2nd gear between about 2,800 - 3,200 rpm.  It doesn't sound like
anything bad, just annoying and sometimes worse than others.  Any thoughts?
Motor mounts?  What do "bad" ones look like?  What happens when they go bad?
