The problem is volume. If you had a hundred thousand made they would be  very 
inexpensive per unit. Unfortunately your up front cost would be pretty darn  
steep. Since only about fifty thousand roadsters were made you would not have  
much of a market. If you only had a few thousand made the up front costs 
would  be about the same and the per unit cost would go way up. Have a hundred 
made and  the per unit cost would be more than they are now. Most people just 
don't  appreciate what it costs set up the tooling to produce some of these  
parts.

I realize it's an issue of supply and demand with some  of the parts nearly
unavailable at any price, but why wouldn't a vendor  step in to have the
parts remanufactured by any one of the many off-shore  after market parts
suppliers?
